University of Pittsburgh - High Density Storage

This 22,000 square foot addition doubled the book storage capacity of the previous high density storage building at this off-campus location.  It can hold 3.1 million volumes of books in a pre-engineered building with strict humidity and temperature environmental requirements.  The fixed shelving units are over 30 feet high and upper levels are accessed by a modified scissor lift mechanism.
