Byers Hall
Byers Hall is one of the grand residences built in the former Allegheny City, now Pittsburgh’s North Side. Built in 1889, the building is a good example of the Flemish renaissance style which was popular in this age of revival styles. The decorative dormers, arcades, and detailed masonry are built of brick and soft red sandstone. In the late 1980s, the building received a much-needed facade restoration, which included replacement of many of the stones which were deteriorated beyond repair. Since then, the building’s facade had continued to deteriorate and some of the original patching and repair had not weathered well.
RSH provided a complete building facade survey and recommendations for repair of previous work, as well as stone replacement. In addition, recommendations for replacement of the clay tile roof were incorporated.
