200 Industry Drive
RSH Architects was retained by the Regional Industrial Development Corporation (RIDC) of Southwestern Pennsylvania to design the new corporate headquarters for Dick’s Clothing and Sporting Goods. It is located on an eight-acre site in RIDC Park West, a professional office park near the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Since the tenant-specific facility was designed with anticipation of doubling its initial occupancy, RSH Architects worked closely with facility management personnel at Dick’s and with the staff at RIDC to provide two siting alternatives, one to provide efficient initial development and another to accommodate stated growth projections.
Sited prominently high above Route 60, the building is quite visible to travelers going to and from the airport. Its three-story configuration maximizes the on-site parking areas while offering individual floor plates that work well with interior system furnishings. Prefabricated panels of fiberglass-reinforced concrete compliment the masonry exterior and articulate the façade. A two-story glass atrium provides a grand entry to the building. Both the first and second floors open to this entrance, providing a welcoming sense of openness.
