Project Narrative: Clarion University, located in rural northwestern PA, is one of fourteen State System of Higher Education schools. The University's non-profit foundation provided the financial sponsorship for the privately developed housing project. Located at the highest point on campus, the site offers scenic vistas of the surrounding rural landscape. The project consists of two four (4) story residence halls totaling 112,000 square feet and provides 360 student beds in contemporary suite-style configurations.

Honoring the traditional aesthetic of Founder's Hall, the two new buildings feature rusticated stone bases and arched entrances, brick facades and mansard roof lines. The structures are constructed of wood frame walls, floor and roof panels. The University's existing utility infrastructure was extended to the buildings. Heating and cooling are provided by an economical water-source heat pump system. Other carefully designed features permitted the buildings to achieve LEED Silver Certification, consistent with other PASSHE venues.
